Duties Description The Claims department is seeking Student Intern to assist in the Services and Systems division. This internship will give general insight into the workers compensation claims operation of NYSIF and more specifically the Services and Systems division. Core functions include:
• Procurement, implementation, and ongoing management of vendor services.
• Creation, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of internally developed systems.
• Evaluation of contracts and performance evaluations of active vendors.
• Training and Communication.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Scheduling meetings, note taking, drafting documents, creating spreadsheets, and creating workflows.
• Post review of payments to NYSIF vendors.
• Assisting with the creation and dissemination training material and internal communications.
• Review of internal and external bill inquires.
Minimum Qualifications • Be actively enrolled in a college, university, or graduate program.
• Be a permanent New York State (NYS) resident and/or actively enrolled in a NYS college or University.
• Have completed a minimum of one (1) year as a student at a degree-granting two or four year college or university (completion of one year's worth of academic credits over a longer period may qualify part-time students for participation in the program) or be currently enrolled graduate student or accepted in a graduate degree program.
• Have a minimum grade point average (GPA) of 3.0, or the letter grade equivalent.
• Able to work full-time Summer (37.50 hours weekly) and based on performance and availability the opportunity to transition to part-time Fall (10-15 hours per week)
Preferred Qualifications:
• Proficiency in MS Office products.
• Desire to work in public service.
• Academic or work-related experience in project management, data analysis, and or communications.
• Preferred Major(s): Public administration or Business Administration or related fields.
